General Sales & Operations Manager
The Position:
The General Manager reports to the Division President and serves as the principal point of contact for the companyʼs daily operations. He/she will assume responsibility for the companyʼs inside sales, merchandising, showroom management, vendor management, and employee development activities, and will play a key role in building a corporate culture focused on customer service and consultative selling. The position works closely with the Division President and the Vice President of Sales, and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the enterprise.
Major responsibilities include employee training and development, customer
engagement, vendor management, selling and pricing strategies, margin management, and management of SG&A, payroll and overtime budgets, among others. The position will build upon the excellent programs already in place to improve the firmʼs selling culture and achieve ongoing efficiencies in customer focused business operations.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a high-energy self-starter with a proven track record
managing the day-to-day operation of sales teams and/or retail stores that cater to an elite clientele. Experience in a company selling decorative hardware or plumbing is highly desired, as is the demonstrated ability to continually improve the efficiency and performance of this kind of business. The candidate must have a passion for teaching, mentoring and motivating people, and a history of success providing superior customer service in this type of environment.
The candidate must be a natural team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. He/she must be a “quick study” who can manage all aspects of this business and create value by increasing efficiencies, enhancing selling processes and upgrading the skills of employees across-the-board. He/she must have an energetic, proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to complete special assignments on time and within budget.
Education and Experience:
The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related discipline, and 5-8 years sales management and customer support experience in a retail or customer facing environment. Candidates with the right attitude and appropriate life experience will be given serious consideration.
